Careem is preparing to expand into digital payments by launching a mobile wallet called CareemPay next year, which will allow the customers to spend their Careem credits on much more than simply just paying for their rides.
Using the CareemPay Wallet, the users will be able to spend their Careem credit for making online and offline purchases.
Different sources have confirmed that CareemPay is expected to launch next Year in the Saudia after the approval from the Saudi Government. The company also eyeing UAE, Pakistan, and Egypt as the potential market for the mobile wallet i.e CareemPay. Although there hasn’t been any official announcement of an upcoming financial gateway by Careem.
It is still unclear if Careem will launch CareemPay as a separate product or Careem will upgrade its existing in-app wallet to provide these additional functionalities but let’s wait until we get any official new from Careem and this is something very existing to look forward.
Careem is widely used in Pakistan and its built-in wallet is very popular among travelers. If Careem manages to execute this venture well and manages it according to the needs of local customers, this could be the push that is required to popularize digital payments among Pakistani consumers.
