Whatsapp brings a new feature for all the Android users and for all Android versions. They named this feature PiP which stands for Picture-In-Picture. With this feature, the users can play the video from YouTube, Facebook or Instagram without leaving their chatbox. Isn’t that cool? It opens up the video as a popup and adds it to the top of the chat so that you can continue to chat or scroll your messages simultaneously.
The feature, which arrived in beta back in October, is rolling to Android users through the WhatsApp stable version 2.18.380. While the new update has now brought a dedicated PiP feature for all Android users, WhatsApp for iPhone has been offering an identical experience since January this year but for Android users, this is something new for them to enjoy the videos without leaving their chatbox.
If you are unable to use this feature then it’s time to update your Whatsapp app using Google Play. The feature works in individual chats as well as group chats. So enjoy watching your videos and chat with the contacts at the same time.
You don’t need to enable an option on the latest WhatsApp for Android to experience the Picture-in-Picture feature. It works just with a link of any Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube videos. Once you tap that link, the video plays in a small, dedicated window that sits on top of your WhatsApp chats. This means you can continue to communicate either with individuals or the members of a WhatsApp group alongside watching the available Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube video.
Now the sad part, this feature doesn’t work with the video clips shared natively on the instant messaging app. Similar is the case with videos being shared from other video platforms. But still, this is something very interesting and will definitely enhance the user experience.
Earlier this year, SoundCloud also launches a few features. Check that out too.
